ABC Greenlights Marvel’s Agent Carter and Renews Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel is finally on a roll with the renewal of Agents of SHIELD and the series order for Marvel’s Agent Carter
Marvel’s Agent Carter was finally given the greenlight from ABC.

Its day five of the countdown to TV upfront meetings! And after many months of waiting, ABC has finally started to renew and cancel there shows. Two of which I have been waiting a long time to hear about is finally given the greenlight, Marvel’s Agent Carter and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

What comes as a great relief to SHIELD fans, because many were concerned that due to the ratings being not as high as ABC had hoped, would cause it to be cancelled in its first run, but it was incorrect.

That’s not all, rumors that were circulating of a Agent Carter series actually turned out to be true, as ABC also gave a series order to the Captain America series starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter.

As for Agents of SHIELD, it took them a long time to finally find there ground in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; But after there crossover with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the show finally became the show people wanted it to be. And now, they will get to do it again in the 2014-2015 fall season.

Meanwhile, competitor DC Comics has already gotten shows based on there characters green lit by CW, FOX and NBC. With CW ‘The Flash’; with FOX ‘Gotham’ was green lit earlier this week; and finally NBC green lit ‘Constantine’ and ‘Hellblazer”.

So it looks like a lot of new DC shows plan to give Marvel a run for there money in the TV world. But, Marvel still has the advantage with movies that make them a great deal of money. It looks like its shaping up into a great competition between the two!

Stay tuned as I keep you informed of the latest TV news as the upfront meetings come ever closer!

One of the scariest things for TV fans is the end of a long frustrating season for there favorite TV shows, and the meetings networks have to determine whether there show lives on till the 2014-2015 season or do they get cancelled and leave a lot of weeping fans devastated .

One of the biggest shows on the bubble that has many bite there fingernails is Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Of course many are certain that it will be renewed, ABC has yet to announce it though. I’m still mixed on whether it will be renewed or cancelled, but the odds are that it will be.

Wednesday; May 14 2014, the biggest and highest viewed TV network CBS will be hosting there upfront meetings and soon to be announcing there 2014-2015 schedule. Of course they are already starting renewals and cancellations before the meeting, but we should have the full rundown on Wednesday.

There was a lot of new shows that came to life this year, but a lot of them may not survive to see TV screens next year. It looks like the surviving members will as always been veteran shows like NCIS, The Voice, NCIS: LA, About a Boy, Arrow, and many more.

Make sure to tune in here, as I bring you all the updates on the TV Upfront meetings.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD episode review: Turn Turn Turn

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Tuesdays at 8:00 PM/7:00 PM CT on ABC

Months ago, many thought this show was never going to be the show die hard fans wanted to be, but after last night’s episode things just go better!

Last nights episode (Turn Turn Turn) began with the attack on Agent Garrett (Bill Paxton) and the explanation for from Agent May on her secret phone line, which is revealed that she was reporting to Director Fury. As the plane heads to The Hub, panic starts to ensue in SHIELD with HYDRA starting to take over. And now, Agent Coulson and his team are scattered in there struggle for survival against HYDRA and traitors of the Clairvoyant.

First of all, ABC lied about this episode taking place after Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Why? Because the episode was taking place During The Winter Soldier, not after. The crossover was during the events of the movie, next week’s episode is the after Captain America crossover. But that’s not a real big problem, because the episode was still excellent nonetheless.

The subplots of all the characters dealing with threats were excellently done, including the scene between Ward and Skye. But that too was predictable with the two. Ever since the second episode, they’ve been leading up to a romance between Ward and Skye, and now it finally materialized. I’ve been rooting for that for a while, but now its shaken by the ending.

Also in the episode (WARNING: SPOILER ALERT), it is revealed Agent Garrett is the Clairvoyant and a agent in HYDRA. This does not come as a surprise, seeing how they were being suspicious with his character, but this move was a well done twist.

Finally the ending, (WARNING: SPOILER ALERT) Ward killing Victoria Hand and the two body guards indicating that he was with HYDRA was a bold and shocking move. But the weirdest part is that in the final scene, he didn’t say “Hail HYDRA!” indicating he might be deep undercover and might not be HYDRA after all. We’ll just have to wait and see. An off hand note: The HYDRA symbol at the end of the episode was pretty scary way of saying there is things to come.

Rating of Turn Turn Turn,  9/10

Make sure to tune in next week’s episode on Tuesday April 15th at 8:00 PM/7:00 CT, Next episode being Providence, only on ABC.

Movie Review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America: The Winter Soldier now playing in US theaters

The wait is over Captain America: The Winter Soldier is finally here.  This movie blew my mind! It had me on the edge of my seat and my heart racing right up until the very last scene. I even stayed to watch the credits.

It begins with Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, (Chris Evans) still struggling to adapt to the 21st century and his work with S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division). With each clandestine mission his doubts grow of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s integrity and honesty. His doubt is confirmed during a hostage rescue, when he catches Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)(WARNING: SPOILER ALERET) performing a mission outside the defined parameters of the mission. Captain America become suspicious of S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s mission and everyone in it.

Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. suspects the organization is compromised and races secure a deep black project before it can be used by the moles. Fury is targeted for assassination, but manages to ferret out vital information to Captain America about a deeper mystery of within S.H.I.E.L.D. and a conspiracy that challenges liberty and privacy of the entire world. S.H.I.E.L.D. deems Captain America a threat and attempts to take him out. Steve teams up with the Black Widow and his new friend Sam Wilson, who becomes the Falcon to uncover the moles threatening to murder 200 million people. It’s up to Captain America and the Falcon to fight for freedom and what’s right for We the People as they take down the forces of evil.

One of the negative aspects from my view is the things are suppose to have you in shock, but failed miserably. One example is the casting of Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce. My father, Mark Totilo said, “He’s old enough to play a grandfather. He didn’t come across like a good villain should.” It was too predictable for his character to be the villain. The movie was good enough to make up for the bad acting by Mr. Redford.

The action was some of the best action I’ve ever seen, and a really fast paced movie. One thing I really appreciated was that it did not rely on visual effects. The directors made it appoint to rely on good old hand to hand fight scenes. It was a little fast and shaky but other than that was fun to watch.

Back story of the plot was really well told with Dr. Zola and HYDRA (Spoiler alert.) and how it affected everyone in SHIELD (Including Director Fury).

I didn’t like the fact that the movie was titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier and is a misleading, because the Winter Soldier was another character with a semi-major role. The story wasn’t about him at all, its like he’s there and you don’t know why he’s there. Of course the plot wouldn’t have been good if the Winter Soldier was a one man show, seeing how he worked for a traitor, but don’t name the movie after him.

The score I would give this movie is about 8.5/10. I’m still working on whether it’s better than The Avengers, it’s a toss up. But this was extremely well done with excellent story telling, awesome action, fantastic actors, and great funny one liner’s that kept it very interesting and entertaining.

Now that I’ve finally seen this movie, I’m ready for the next part of the epic adventure. On Tuesday, April 8th, the adventure continues with a crossover episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Make sure to tune in at 8:00 PM on ABC.

Soon to come: Crossover of Marvel’s Agents of Shield and Captain America: The Winter Soldier that will rock your world!

Marvel’s Agents of Shield continues it’s uprising event with its crossover with Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 8th at 8:00 PM EST/7:00 PM CST
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to hit theaters in North America tomorrow after many months of anticipation.

Calling all Marvel fans! After many long months of waiting and anticipation, the drama and the outbreak of the Marvel universe is one breath away from the biggest adventure outbreak of all time!

Starting on Friday, the drama and the outbreak of the Marvel universe starts with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is finally arriving in US Cinemas tomorrow. The anticipation has been killing me ever since they began principle photography on the movie, and now its finally arrived. Captain America will be set to go against The Winter Soldier. Joining him in his adventure is Director Nick Fury, the Falcon, and the Black Widow.

Then after watching The Winter Soldier in theaters this weekend, the chaos doesn’t stop there, it continues on Tuesday night at 8:00 PM with Marvel’s Agents of Shield. From the preview of the upcoming episode, it looks to be a action-packed thriller taking place during The Winter Soldier (Or a least after, its still not confirmed which one it is.). The episode is titled “Turn, Turn, Turn” which makes sense after watching the trailer for Captain America. Its all new, coming up on April 8th.

The only thing that still bothers me is the fact that Agent Phil Coulson (Played by Clark Gregg) is not going to be in the movie. I love the character dearly, and hope to see him in the Marvel movies again soon. In the meantime, I get to enjoy watching him on Marvel’s Agents of Shield.

Make sure to get your popcorn, turn off your cell phone and enjoy the show. After the movie, turn on your TV and tune in, and get ready Marvel Universe for an adventure that will rock your world!
