It’s time once again! Were The Hollywood Star brings you another review of some of the classics of the decade! Today’s review is doing something a little different, that is not an action movie nor a movie that is well known, that being Confessions of a Shopaholic
Produced by Touchstone Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Confessions of a Shopaholic is a story about a young girl named Rebecca Bloomwood (Played by Isla Fisher). Who is a shopaholic that spends thousands of dollars on shopping. But when she gets fired from her job and her debt starts to mount up, she gets a job at Successful Saving (A money magazine.), running it is cute Luke Brandon (Played by Hugh Dancy). Along the way, there successful column “The Girl in the Green Scarf” starts to change there life forever.
The acting was very well done, including the best supporting actor being the funny desk clerk. Isla Fisher brings true nature to the part and that’s what makes her so entertaining to watch.
Now let’s dive into it then, shall we? This movie was a very different tone that what has been done with romantic comedies nowadays. Many criticize the movie because of its dry humor and not being funny, I beg to differ. This movie had a lot of funny moments that put a smile on my face, and make me enjoy the film. Another thing this movie did that not many can do, is that it stayed true to life. People may not like movies like this, but it is a realistic story.
Many go to the movies for garbage that is not real. This movie is not, it makes you wonder about debt, addictions, selling products, writing for magazines, and understanding life and not going into debt.
I guess many who saw this movie are in debt, and don’t want to have the bad feeling of it reinforced, and are willing to bad mouth the movie because it shows what’s really wrong with this world, debt.
The rating I would give this movie is most definitely four out of five stars. It had nicely done acting, a good story, very realistic tone, and a nice job by those who did.
There may not be a lot of people that appreciate the movie you people did, but know that there is one person who appreciates it.
